At Gull Point Animal Hospital we understand that older pets require special care. Dr. Ernest would be happy to guide you through your pet's aging process, and ensure that they live out their golden years happy and pain-free!

If you're wondering if your pet qualifies as a senior, check out the chart to the right to properly classify your pet.

Most cats are considered senior citizens at nine years of age, though if they are larger they will be classified as a senior citizen sooner.
Small dogs (less than 20 lbs) are often considered senior citizens at nine years, whereas large dogs (over 50 lbs) can be considered senior citizens in as little as five years.

We recommend senior bloodwork for all of our senior patients. It can be so difficult to spot a problem with our pets as they often do their best to hide the symptoms! Bloodwork is an easy way to ensure that your pet's organ systems are functioning properly, and that if they are not that the proper steps can be taken to keep your pet comfortable and prolong their life.

Bad joints and arthritis are common issues with older pets, but we are fully equipped to evaluate your pet's pain and mobility issues, and we have a variety of joint supplements and pain medication to offer!
