Heartworm and Flea Prevention

We have a wide variety of options for flea and heartworm prevention medication that we keep in-stock in our hospital!  Pictured to the right are some of the products that we carry.

Prescription Items Include:

• Trifexis - kills fleas, heartworms, hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms. Lasts for 1 month.  
• Comfortis - kills fleas. Lasts for 1 month.  (we recommend pairing with Heartgard for heartworm protection!)
• Sentinel - protect against fleas, heartworms, hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms.  Lasts for 1 month.  
• Nexgard - kills fleas and ticks. Lasts for 1 month.  (we recommend pairing with Heartgard for heartworm protection!)
• Heartgard - kills heartworms, roundworms, and hookworms.  Lasts for 1 month.  (we recommend pairing with another product for flea protection!) 
• Bravecto - kills fleas and ticks. Lasts for 3 months.  (we recommend pairing with Heartgard for heartworm protection!)  
• Revolution - kills fleas, heartworms, hookworms, roundworms, and ear mites.  Lasts for 1 month.  

Non-Prescription Items Include:

• Advantage - kills fleas at every stage of their development. Lasts for 1 month.  (we recommend pairing with Heartgard for heartworm protection in dogs!)
• Seresto - repels and kills fleas, flea larvae, and ticks. Lasts for 6-8 months.  (we recommend pairing with Heartgard for heartworm protection in dogs!)
• Capstar - kills fleas quickly (you will see results in less than 15 minutes).  Lasts for 24 hours.

To get prescription medications (such as some of the flea and heartworm medications listed above) from Gull Point Animal Hospital your pet must be a current patient with us, and must have had an exam with Dr. Ernest in the last year.

If your pet does not have a current (within a year) exam on file we cannot dispense prescription medication, but we provide you with advantage, seresto, or capstar.
