Dental Surgery
If your pet has tooth root exposure or severely decayed teeth consider coming to Gull Point Animal Hospital for dental extractions! During the dental cleaning process one of our licensed veterinarians will personally assess your pet's mouth (after all potentially concealing calculus has been removed) to determine the health of the teeth. If the tooth has too much root exposure, is loose, or broken it may need to be extracted.
Many clients are concerned that the removal of teeth will negatively impact their pet's life, we assure you, it is quite the opposite! Teeth that are extracted are usually very painful to the pet, and they are better off without them. Our hospital staff once did a dental on a 12 year old dachshund that had never had a dental cleaning. The teeth that he had left were so rotten that they all had to be removed. When the owner checked back in with us two weeks after the procedure, she was elated with his progress. She reported that he was now "playing like a puppy" and said that his appetite had improved greatly! Living a life free of dental pain can do you dog a world of good!
